| These two get started well before sun up... It begins with Thump Thump Thump Heh Heh ( Daisy's play voice), Hissssssss and growls (from Sister Kitty) . The morning riot has begun and decible level goes up from there!
It would take more effort to go back to sleep, so pour my cup of coffee and grab the paper and head for the lanai to start my day.
The Brudda Kitty has disappeared over a month ago. The feral Tiger has been back, trying to establish his territory, inflicting terror and havoc within the cat community.
I would (and still do) call his name before first light when the people community is barely stirring.
I have searched everywhere, plastered the area with posters and phoned everyone cat related. Even with the intense BOLO, he has not been sighted. That could be construed as good news and my show up later.
Sister Kitty (aka Funny Face) had been totally lost.... all but devastated. She is spooked at everything before when Brudda took care of her and was terrified with everything when he went AWOL.
Steve and I have taken extra care to be more quiet with the yard project... and to talk slow and low to her. She has been coming around.
Where is that silly dawg? When I bring her food, I sit longer on the steps and talk to her... insuring that no other cat or dog spooks her while she eats. She has been waiting at the gate for me where she used to wait under the steps until Brudda called her to eat. She would freak and hide under the house at the sight of Daisy.
I think I see a kitty kat!
It is Daisy that would bring us the real break through... poking her nose under the gate to get Sister's attention. Sister would eventually be so curious as to poke hers under for a look around...that rolled to a jump over the gate and really look and not be so frightened with the dog.
Just like she would do with Brudda, Daisy would bring toys to try and interest the kitty into playing. Sister now plays hide and seek.
It is a progressive thing.. Sister calls me if I am late with food... Instead of running at the sight of me there is 'chatter tail' with excitement when I bring 'EATIES". Sister wraps her self around my feet as I walk.. touching me is a big deal. Instead of cringing under the house she now she spends most of her time on the lanai and even sleeps up here.... . first behind chairs, then, on the chairs, under the table (with a long tablecloth) to stay out of the wind.... and now she favors snoozing and sleeping on one of the lounge chairs.
She comes to the door in the evening and meows for Daisy to come out and play before bedtime.
Yesterday, we came home to find the both of them sleeping on the same lounge...(a first) not touching, but not at opposite ends either. She has begun seeking out companionship and starting to play two party games. This little gal has come a long way. Fluke or not , I am so proud of Daisy.
And then there is the ever popular.. STARE OFF!
Life is good.. I hope it is for all of you, too.

| Daisy likes to do almost everything except stopping long enough to be groomed and take a bath...
Reading Letters to Editor with Steve my favorite .. right after checking on Ruff in Family Circus
Come on, lets play with the squeeky sockie
Too late Steve, here she comes with the shampoo in hand~ Hey! How come she never puts you in the sink and gets soap in your ears???

| I have so much to be thankful for... .... my loving daughters and their families, my partner, having survived 4 cancers... longtime and true friends, a nice roof over my head and enough food for all of us. I'm still active....and there is much to laugh over.
Every morning that my little Daisy Dawg drags me from my bed, I am thankful that I can.
There is something about a life threatening disease that clears the brain and puts everything in proper perspective. I seem to have little or no trouble separating the wheat from the chaff. It keeps my life much less complicated. It is another gift I am thankful for. I could go on... but it is not about who has the longer list.
There is not a morning I wake up that I am not thankful for another day. Tomorrow is not my only Thanksgiving day, but is the day I really celebrate my good fortune.

| I got this email and, again, I think it is 'pass on worthy'...
Put your car keys beside your bed at night........ For you safety's sake.....there are two things that can help you Put your car keys and your cell phone beside your bed at night. It is so simple that we sometimes do not even think of these. ***If you hear a strange noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the 'Panic' button on your car key.. and pick up your cell phone and call the police and a nearby friend. The car alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound off or make what ever noise it is normally programmed to do. Just keep pushing that button every time is stops. Getting help is more important than a dead battery. You car dealer can tell you all the different sounds the Panic/Key button can be programmed for. Ask!
Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away on a table top or a drawer.. Think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no Installation.
Test it. It should go off from most everywhere inside your house and will alert someone if it keeps honking. Do make sure it works whether you park in your driveway or garage.. If your car alarm goes off, odds are the prowler/burglar/rapist won't stick around.
Remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. #2 ... Keep you cell phone with you.. and charge it on your nightstand.. It will not do you a lot of good in the garage or in the kitchen. Be prepared! Have the police, fire department and a near-by friend on you speed dial and practice how to get to the numbers quickly. Keeping your keys or your cell phone on your person might also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack.
One senior lady has suggested that she and her spouse carry car keys with them in case of falls.
You can easily activate the car alarm and the other (or a neighbor, if you tell them) will know there's a problem. The car horn may or may not work in an apartment living situation.
A cell phone is cheap Insurance.
What ever situation frightens you, Plan for those situations and practice going through the motions of alerting and getting help. (Take caution that you do not actually call the police and fire when you practice.)
