  • Spring Is Coming

Winds have calmed for a bit. The sun was out again and we have been taking the opportunity to tidy up.

I found the avocados are ready... huge tasty and plenty of them.

and made guacamole. I usually make it with sour creme, but, no only diet in the house
and I was hungry! and I'm not ready for diet today.

Then the ruby reds (grapefruit)  are ready, too.  Sweet and juicy.

It was great that so many limes had fallen at once. ( no pix, today) I had more than enough to make a pitcher of frosty limeade to go with the chips and dip.
We have two Tahitian lime trees. Both are laden. even when they were small, they produced.

The red grapefruit  is loaded, but not as  prolific as last year. The Moro (red) read oranges and navel oranges are just about ready.

We will have have plenty to share.

No veggies yet, the sweet peas are slow. I had to replant because the Francolin birds helped themselves to the green sprouts.
Oh yes, I have the radishes.. I do love ( salted) radishes .. Of course, why else are they planted here. lol

No signs of squash, cantaloupe, melons yet, but the greenery is getting tall. the winds have all but decimated the tomatoes and we'll replant them this week end. I'm thinking I should just get starts at the local farmers market tomorrow.

Just for fun, I tossed a few red potatoes in the ground when they got long in the tooth. The tops are taking over.
It almost felt like summer and it was time we cleaned up the 'upwind treasures' .

Spring for you is just around the corner.   Get ready Maggie!

  • My grapefruits are in and yummy! I wish we'd planted the ruby red. And I can't get enough avocados, but after seeing that tree by Ivan's I'm happy to just buy them at the store.

  • Gosh you made e want an avocado tree...I use  cottage cheese sometimes in my guacamole if I don't have sour cream, but green chilies, onions, red if I have them, lime juice, garlic minced fine...oh man...you really did make me hungry for it.  I can't wait to plant...I'm getting the itch..

  • I am very envious. What I wouldn't give to live in a place where you can graw fruit like that!

Nice job on the awning, looks pretty good to me.
